Basic or Deep Cleaning: Which One Should You Book First?
The short rule: if no professional has cleaned your place lately, start deep. If one has, basic keeps it there.

When you call a cleaning company for the first time, one of the first questions is which service you want. Basic or deep. It sounds like a menu choice, but it's really a question about where your home stands today. Pick the wrong one and you either pay for work you didn't need or end up disappointed that the result didn't reach what was bothering you.
At CAAS Away Cleaning in Lakeland, the rule of thumb is simple. Basic Cleaning is best for clients who have used our service, or another professional cleaning service, within the last 30 days. Deep Cleaning means the property is cleaned top to bottom, and it's best for first-time customers. Here's what that looks like in real life.
What a basic clean is for
Think of a basic clean as maintenance. The heavy lifting has already been done, either by us or by another professional crew, and the job now is to keep the home where it should be. Nothing has had time to build up into something that needs scrubbing, so the visit can be lighter than a full top-to-bottom reset.
That's the reason the 30-day window matters. A basic clean assumes there isn't a layer of old grime waiting to be cut through. If it's been months since anyone really scrubbed the shower or wiped down the baseboards, a basic visit is going to feel like it skipped things, because it was never meant to dig that deep. That's not a flaw in the service. It's the wrong tool for the situation.
Basic cleaning suits people who like a regular rhythm and just want the reset. Families with kids and dogs, busy professionals, and anyone who'd rather spend Saturday at the lake than in the bathroom tend to land here once the first clean is behind them.
What a deep clean is for
A deep clean is the full reset. The property is cleaned top to bottom, which is why it's the right starting point for a first-time customer. When we haven't been in your home before, and you can't say for sure when a professional last was, the safest move is to begin with everything and then drop to a lighter schedule.
It's also the answer when a home just feels dingy and you can't pin down why. That feeling is usually a pile of small things: dust that's settled in places you don't look, film on bathroom glass, buildup in kitchen corners, grime along the baseboards. None of it is dramatic by itself. Together it makes a house feel tired, and a top-to-bottom clean is the way to reach all of it in one go.
- You've never had a professional cleaning crew in your home before.
- It's been longer than a month since anyone cleaned, and you don't remember the last time it was thorough.
- You've just had guests, a party, or a busy stretch and the house got away from you.
- You're about to host family and want everything to look right.
- You want a clean baseline before starting a regular schedule.
A simple way to decide
Ask yourself one question: has a professional cleaned this place within the last 30 days? If yes, Basic Cleaning is probably what you want. If no, or if you honestly don't know, book Deep Cleaning.
A lot of people try to save money by starting with basic on a home that hasn't had the full treatment. It's an understandable instinct, but it often backfires. The crew does what a basic visit covers, you look around afterward, and the stubborn stuff is still there. Then you book a deep clean anyway, and you've paid for two visits instead of one.
Starting deep also gives the cleaning team a clear picture of your home. After that first visit there's a clean baseline, and every basic visit afterward has a standard to hold to.
Moving from deep to basic
The usual path for a home looks like this: one deep clean to reset it, then recurring basic cleanings to maintain it. It works for the same 30-day reason. If your visits are close enough together, the home never slips back into deep-clean territory.
If life gets busy and a few weeks stretch into a couple of months, there's no shame in going back to a deep clean. It's not a failure of the routine. It's just the right service for where the house is.
Things worth knowing before you book
Pricing depends on the property, so we can't give you a flat number without knowing what we're cleaning. Estimates are free, and the easiest way to get one is to call (863) 370-8387 and describe your home. We'll tell you which service fits and what it would cost.
A few housekeeping details so nothing surprises you. We take cash, credit, debit and checks, with a $50 fee on returned checks. If you need to cancel, we ask for 24 hours' notice. Without it, the penalty is half of the service charge. We're open Monday through Friday from 8am to 8pm, Saturday from 9am to 7pm, and Sunday from 9am to 8pm, so scheduling around work is usually doable.
Our cleaning and sanitation methods are environmentally friendly, and every job comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you want to read more about either service, each has its own page under Services.
Still not sure which one fits? That's a normal question, and it's exactly what the free estimate is for. Call (863) 370-8387 or reach out through the contact page and we'll sort it out together.
